We are entering the time of the Great Instability. The order forged in the post-WW2 period, is collapsing. That is to be cheered. In a fast-changing world, the order has become sclerotic; rigidly defending a time that has passed. To do so, it has been forced to rely on ever-increasing personal surveillance with ever-diminishing human rights. It has become the enemy that it sought to defeat.
The alliances and power blocks formed in this time have been invalid for many decades. The communist ideology, with its bifurcated Russian and Chinese threat is no more. Both threats have strayed far from their ideological roots and both have too many internal problems to be much of a threat to anyone. Both will undergo their own economic convulsions and political turmoil. No one can predict what the outcome will be, other than that they will end up with reduced boundaries. In the short term, both will try to expand their boundaries, maybe successfully, but it will not last more than a few years at best.
The communist ideological threat to the world has been replaced by the Islamic ideological threat. It also is a two-pronged one – Sunni and Shia (Saudi Arabia and Iran). Always there are those who promote totalitarianism as the solution to the world’s problems. Always they are wrong, but always the young and naïve fall for the siren song – witness Venezuela today.
“The government is not the solution to the problem; the government is the problem.” Ron Reagan
Ever more government has produced ever more problems; to the point that they are now insurmountable.
NATO, the UN and all the other pretentious world organisations are redundant; they have no part to play in this all or nothing fight with Islam. No invading armies will march across borders; they will have no need to; the governments of the west invited them in with open arms.
That the people would reject this degradation of their culture was easily predicted by all, except politicians (This, by the way, is the real problem with paying politicians so much and giving them such lavish expenses. They end up circulating in social ivory towers instead of amongst the people that they are supposed to represent. They utterly lose touch with the average voter.)
It is not just the multinational organisation that are defunct; nation states themselves will be torn apart by the civil wars that their politicians have brewed. The return to tribalism, already well progressed by the absence of circulating Gold, will be strengthened by Islam’s latest attempt to conquer the world.
The Great Instability will see new, smaller nations forged from the fire of violent conflict. The great power blocks will implode under the weight of fury of the people. Tribal loyalties, prejudice, intolerance and superstition, now festering in the form of ‘black lives matter’, feminism and global warming etc., will break out into the open. Communities and communications will shrink.
One day, not in the life of anyone living today, there will be a new beginning for societies. The cycle of creation (circulation of Gold), followed by destruction (withdrawal of Gold), followed by creation (re-circulation of Gold) will continue.
Humans, in some degraded form or another, will survive. Our societies will not.
