Let’s not be too hard on the Venezuelan socialists. Yes, it’s been a disaster and has resulted in widespread hunger amongst the poor and untold deaths. But the people did originally vote for socialism, despite all the historical evidence for what would happen. Besides, Venezuela is a minor manifestation of the disease.
From the national socialism of Hitler, Mao and Pol Pot, to the international socialism of Stalin, all have been unmitigated disasters. The billions that have lived out their lives in misery have been the lucky ones. Hundreds of millions have died of hunger, re-education camps, executions, gulags and five-year plans. The documentation of these socialist nightmares is in the public domain.
Life is a battle and one of the rules of engagement is that ignorance is no excuse.
Today’s politicians generally operate in a principles-free zone. They adhere to no moral strictures, governing on the whimsical ebbs and flows of opinion polls. Opinion polls display what is popular. Usually, that means whatever is deemed to be free.
When people do not understand wealth creation, when they believe that something can be free, then the end is nigh. That is where we are now. The world is imploding from the post WW2 worldwide socialist experiment. Socialism has been imposed in varying degrees of severity around the world, thus the varied pace of the collapses. All will collapse eventually.
The only positive is that the degeneration of human IQ that socialist welfare has brought about will be neutralised. Only the smartest will survive. Not all of them by any means, but those who make it through will do so for the reason of superior survival instincts.
Out of the ruins of socialist collapse will rise Capitalism – freedom. Along with that freedom will come a new prosperity.
“Socialism is the system of seeking out and destroying capital. Redistribution means taking someone’s capital and handing it over as income to someone else. The rightful owner would steward and compound it, not consume it. But the recipient of unearned free goodies happily and uncaringly eats it up. Socialism is not sustainable. It inherits seed corn from a prior, happier system, and it lasts only as long as the seed corn.”
