Well worth a watch
Some of the items that I blog about do not (seem to) directly bear on the subject dear to my heart, which is the period between the end of the Gold Standard and its coming re-emergence. This is one of them. But the fascinating (for me) thing about the periods when Gold is not in circulation is that everything deteriorates. Every skerrick of society suffers a deterioration in quality. From the ability to stably store wealth and transact, to morals, education, goods, politicians, IQ, music and the arts in general. Even the ability to conceive, let alone articulate, a concept is degraded – the ability to articulate has become even rarer than the ability to think. I don’t mean lofty thoughts; I mean just any ability to think at all. Some assume that thinking is automatic to all humans. It is not. Everyone feels, much like a lettuce or a hen, speak to a socialist if you doubt that, but few can think.
