Despite thousands of years of example after example, it remains a prevailing myth that governments can revive an economy and create jobs. Politicians even have the gall to promise these things and people still have the credulity to believe it.
It is the unequivocal opposite of the truth. Governments cannot and never could and never will be able to do those things.
Only business can do those things. Governments hinder business, via regulation and taxation, to a greater or lesser degree.
They can add regulation and/or taxation and make things worse, or reduce regulation and/or taxation and make things better, but business and employment can never be as good as when the government is entirely absent.
People build civilizations; governments destroy them.
