Sunday
The relief of business operators in Australia is palpable. I have many business acquaintances and each had made their plans for how to cope with a looney-left socialist government; which, have no doubt, Shorten would have led had he been elected.
All the plans included retrenchment of some existing staff – from a few, to many. Thus it was with my business. The names were in writing and we were ready to move on the Monday morning after the election.
Now? Well I’m not full of optimism, but relative to the dark alternative, I am slightly more sanguine.
Yes, the economy will still dwindle and yes, ‘money’ will get tighter and tighter but, absent the inevitable but not necessarily imminent debt collapse, we are not going to fall off a cliff and I don’t have to fire anybody.
Oddly enough, those people on the list are, now that I think about it, precisely the sort of people (feelers, not thinkers – ‘finkers’) who were batty enough to vote for Bill Shorten’s pack of ratbag socialists. Talk about cutting your own throat.
