Until China becomes more attuned to the civilized world, in terms of not just public health, but human rights, it should not be isolated, but it should be kept at an arm’s length. Socialism is an infectious disease affecting low IQ people and should be treated as such.
Having said that, the latest stats re death rates indicate that Chinese Flu is less deadly than original reports speculated. The death rate is derived by comparing the number of people infected with the number of people dying. Because testing (in the US, UK and most other places) is a monopoly of the governments, it has been inadequate.
Now, as real infection rates begin to arrive, it seems that in Germany, where testing is widespread because it is done by private companies, the death rate is down to 0.1%.
What is also emerging though is confirmation that infection rates are high. Even 0.1% of 60% (no one knows this real number yet) of the population is still a considerable number of people. It means about 15,000 deaths in Australia, mostly in the old who have pre-existing conditions. 99% of Italians who died had pre-existing conditions.
I am not dismissing the whole plague as an overreaction, but the factual data (as opposed to self-serving media hysteria) now coming out suggests that it is hardly worth shuttering the economy and sending us into a depression for.
