Dingbat Dan

September 12, 2020 By Philip Barton

Saturday

Australia’s Liberal government is going to blame Dingbat Dan for the economic crash that is upon us.

Dan Andrews, the Victorian Premier, is widely perceived as a completely out-of-his-depth idiot who has stuffed up his responsibilities to a magnificent degree.  It will stick.  Dan’s daily, self-obsessed, media ramblings have made him the poster child for everything that has been wrong with the response to the virus.

The real cause?  Prime Minister Morrison’s initial panic attack that caused him to shut down a national economy that was already badly struggling.  No government had ever done that before, not even with Smallpox, Polio or Bubonic Plague – all far more dangerous than this annual virus out of China.

Dingbat Dan’s inept efforts to look statesmanlike will be used by Morrison to relentlessly flog the Australian Labor Party – “look what happened in Victoria!  If you can’t run a State, you certainly can’t run a country”.  And he will be correct, but it will be a blatant example of the lesser of two evils.

The only good thing about the coming depression is that it will reverse the falling IQ of the last fifty years.  Three generations have been cursed by the complacency of endless good times.  The appearance of permanent prosperity allowed feelings to become more important than thoughts.  That eventually degenerated all the way down to the Greens and the PC generation.

The government that navigated Australia into its worst ever depression will be re-elected, and probably with an increased majority.

Dingbat Dan is a Drongo* who will go down as a political legend – for the Liberal Party.

* A ‘Drongo’ is an exceptionally incompetent person.  Named after an Australian racehorse in the 1920s who, from 37 starts, always finished last or close to last.
