Civilization

October 18, 2021 By Philip Barton

Monday

This is a continuation of the theme that civilization is properly defined as: ‘the order demanded by a complex economy with widespread supply lines’.

To destroy a civilization it is therefore necessary to a/impede the economy, b/ hinder supply lines and c/impair the institutions that give order to civilization.  The order of these destructive acts is not important.

What are those institutions upon which the fundamental order of civilization depends?  A few, off the top of my head, would be: hospitals, military, firefighters, police and emergency responders.  All of these have been severely impacted by the ‘no jab-no job mandate imposed by governments.  In the U.S., it is reported that some of those institutions will be losing 40% of their employees.

That is almost the definition of destroying order – creating disorder.

Governments, with a few noble exceptions, are actively and effectively shutting down civilization.

It is amazing how entirely inept governments are at anything constructive, yet how wildly efficient they are at destruction.

People build civilizations, governments destroy them.
