The narrative was that we were in the midst of a deadly pandemic and that anyone who didn’t do exactly as the Great Nanny State Witchdoctors said would die a most dreadful death.
Many, almost certainly a majority, believed it. Many of those same people also believed that the end of the world brought about by global warming was a thing.
It is a fact that people view their lives differently when smacked in the face by the wet fish realization of their own mortality.
Meanwhile, governments had further exacerbated the situation during lockdown by informing half the people of the world that the role that they played in society, their job, was non-essential.
Layered over the top of even that indignity, the mass migrations of alien people to most of the Western world had ensured that society itself had broken down. Along with that went the social pressure to conform. Conform to what?
Why bother?
Central bank manipulation of interest rates meant that houses were unaffordable and that only the already rich could get ahead. What was the point of it all?
What was the meaning of life?
Soon after arriving at that question, millions of people quit their jobs and refused to return no matter what incentives were offered. It was too late.
A way of life that had been in slow-motion collapse for fifty years, went over the cliff.
2022 will be an interesting year.
People build civilizations; governments destroy them.
