This table shows the odds of a person with covid having the omicron variant, in the UK from 29 November 2021 to 12 December 2021, after controlling for age, region, sex, ethnicity, deprivation, household size, multi-generational household, and urban/rural classification.
Conclusions:
If you catch covid, the more doses of vaccine you’ve had the more likely your covid variant is to be omicron. A fully boosted person is 4.45 times more likely than an unvaccinated person to have omicron rather than delta.
Travelers abroad are 4.6 time more likely to have omicron. Since such travelers are double vaxxed, this is closely linked to the first conclusion.
People who have previously had covid are 3.22 times more likely to have omicron.
Omicon is a variant of the vaccinated. The vaccinated bring it in via travel, and they are much more likely to catch omicron than delta. This is what you’d expect of a variant that has evolved — or was designed — to evade the current vaccines.
