The latest explanation from the U.S. with regard to the blowing up of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is farcically implausible. Five or six pro-Ukrainian sympathizers on a yacht supposedly performed the deed. People with no knowledge of deep-sea diving in frigid waters came up with that explanation.
It seems designed to perform two functions. The first provides an excuse for the U.S./N.A.T.O. to disentangle themselves from their proxy war with Russia, which has gone so disastrously wrong. How can we continue to support a madman like Zelensky who must have sanctioned this deed? The second sticks a knife in the back of Biden’s chance of running for a second term. He’s been a disaster even by Democrat standards. What sort of a president would have aligned the U.S. with such a madman?
Either result should be welcomed as a step back from the brink of nuclear war.
