The Fourth Turning (Strauss and Howe) is an accurate observation of the cycles that reliably break down into 4 x 20 year periods (approx) and which aggregates into one complete cycle.
The four different stages of the current cycle are generally described as
1 The High (post WW2),
2 The Awakening (think hippies),
3 The Unravelling (think everyone must be equal etc.), and
4 The Crisis (now).
I agree with the theory, but would describe it differently as…
1 Production,
2 Production seemingly creating a permanent state of ‘plenty’,
3 Regulation, confiscation and parasitic consumption of production, resulting in…
4 Collapse of production leading to international acrimony and war.
I suggest that this describes the process more accurately and, thus, more usefully.
